"dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men." johann wolfgang von goethe

It's been a while. Looking through the last few entries, I'm surprised it's been more than a month. I had intended on updating this thing at least every two weeks. One thing leads to another, and then pretty soon it's been a month.
My mother is recovering very well. As part of the effects of the brain surgery, her face has a slight paralysis. This made drinking, talking, eating, and sleeping difficult for her. You see, without use of some facial muscles, she was unable to close her eye without assistance! After visiting her doctor, she was able to get a transparent eye-patch which attached to her glasses. This made it possible for her to see better and use the eye to prevent atrophy and stimulate muscle tissue. Before she had the patch, she would wear a black eye patch similar to those used by pirates, but it only seemed to make it worse. Remember, too, my mom couldn't smell before the surgery, which made tasting difficult. With the facial paralysis, any bit of taste she had is missing as well. (Smell makes it possible to discern between applesauce and pudding. Taste is merely salt, sweet, bitter, spicy.)
The first day after the surgery, my mom very much regretted the surgery. But now, she is glad she went through with it, considering how life-threatening it could have been had she left it alone. She's getting better daily, and feeling more like herself now.
As for me, we have new neighbors. Time will tell, however at the outset I'm assured of their kindness. It turns out I know one of them! We invited them over for dinner, so I'm sure that will be fun.
Ok, off to lunch. Perhaps I'll add more after break....or maybe not! Hasta!
